Yuriko Koike explains that Japan has historically lower levels of inequality, because of high inheritance and income tax rates for rich people. The Japanese nature and state of mind leads people to disapprove some results of Abenomics like the rise in consumer tax and the decrease in corporate tax that make households the losers of the game. This cultural characteristic explains the success of Thomas Piketty’s book in Japan.
